I gave myself a UV tattoo yesterday. Its still fresh, you can still see the wiped ink around my fingernails, but already not very noticable. It really blings in the Black Light! I hope to do some more soon. Ill keep updates to show the healing of the thumb ring. Peace – Dylan
A tattoo is a serious decision to make, but how about a tattoo that can not be seen in the daylight? UV or Blacklight tattoos are tattoos made with a special ink that is only visible under a blacklight. Once a tattoo is healed it won’t be seen at all unless you use Ultraviolet.
In most workplaces, it would be almost impossible to notice anything different about Caitlin Sabel’s wrists.
Look at them under a black light, though, and the words glow. Then, in an old-English font, her left wrist reads “regret” and her right “nothing.”
Sabel has an ultraviolet, or UV, tattoo. Like the tattoos she has of the Egyptian god Anubis on her calf, paw prints on her back or her nickname, Cat, on the inside of her lip, Sabel’s wrist inking would go unseen in a workplace that might frown upon such displays of individuality. That’s because it was done with white ultraviolet ink that can’t be seen without a black light.
STYLE BUZZ Clear by day, completely inked by night — or black light. Tattoo artist Richie in Canon City, CO, has become highly sought out for these tattoos that are only revealed under a black light. A new trend, perhaps, for those who work uptight day jobs? Or who have simply not gotten over black light posters and lava lamps?
If you’ve been thinking about getting some ink done, the International Tattoo Convention was the ideal place to check out the latest trends in tattoo culture. Southern Ink Xposure 2009 took place from the 23 to the 25th of January, and was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The event was the first of its kind in South Africa and featured top tattoo artists from around the globe and nifty tattoos like this UV tattoo you see here.
